The second major stakeholder meeting was held virtually by NavCanada on May 5 to report progress in the Vancouver Airspace Modernization Project. HPAC was represented at the table by Peter Spier. Thanks to his earlier preparation and submission of maps and tracklog maps, documenting our sportís use of airspace in the region, our usage is being incorporated into the project. For an overview of the project and its great complexity for satisfying all the airspace needs of the most diverse group of stakeholders in any airspace in Canada, have a look at the Presentation here: http://beta.hpac.ca/en/files/VAMP-May_2020_RAFT_Forum_Presentation-1.pdf. This makes for fascinating reading about how airspace decisions are made. Peter encourages everyone to log their flights in the Fraser Valley, Pemberton and Vancouver Island, so that this usage can continue to be documented going forward.
